Tsiyen march: (Zion march): Mikhl Aronson's Yiddish version of "Marching Through Georgia"

To sing with the melody from the American national song
Marching Through Georgia
created by
Mikhl Aronson

Michael Aronson is known as a Yiddish poet, son of Yoel Aronson, (newspaper writer and editor of Di zun). He has had other parodies featured on this blog. This one is a serious, Zionist anthem, set to a song which was almost 40 years old at the time: Marching Through Georgia

Wikipedia:

"Marching Through Georgia" (sometimes spelled as "Marching Thru' Georgia" or "Marching Thro Georgia") is a marching song written by Henry Clay Work at the end of the American Civil War in 1865. The title and lyrics of the song refer to U.S. Army major general William T. Sherman's "March to the Sea" to capture the Confederate city of Savannah, Georgia in late 1864.

Since I don't care for the original song and I also don't care for the jingoistic tone of the Yiddish version, I'm not going to sing it unless somebody really wants it. But you can put it together for yourself! Here is a period recording from 1904: Marching Thro' Georgia sung by Harley and Stanley and below, see the Yiddish version (click for the full-sized version):
